A recent Pentagon study, delving into reported UFO sightings spanning nearly a century, has concluded that there is no evidence supporting claims of aliens or extraterrestrial intelligence. Aligning with past U.S. government efforts to scrutinize such assertions, the Defense Department’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office found no signs of alien life or clandestine reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial technology. Despite exhaustive investigative efforts, the report revealed that most sightings were merely misidentifications of ordinary objects and phenomena. While U.S. officials have been unable to uncover evidence of extraterrestrial life, the study acknowledges persisting mysteries, as highlighted by a 2021 government report that, despite reviewing 144 mysterious sightings, drew few conclusions and called for enhanced data collection. Last summer, a retired Air Force intelligence officer’s testimony to Congress stirred fresh attention, alleging a concealed program for retrieving and reverse-engineering unidentified flying objects, a claim denied by the Pentagon, which, in late 2022, reported no evidence of alien life from new reports received by its dedicated office on unidentified flying objects. The authors of the study emphasized its scientific rigor in addressing a subject that has long captivated the American public’s imagination.
